Connestee Falls Property Owners Association (CFPOA) is a mature master planned residential community and a semi-private country club in Brevard, NC operated by its residents under the Connestee Falls Property Owners Association. Our residents share a vision for preserving the amazing natural environment while nurturing great relationships. The community features a championship golf course, a state-of-the-art wellness center, pools, a tennis center, pickleball center, bocce ball courts, and a newly renovated 26,000 sq ft Overlook Clubhouse with restaurants, lounge with full bar, banquet facilities and meeting spaces available for functions.
The community operates much like a small hometown with an elected board and a full- time professional management staff. We employ close to 100 employees. Together, we follow a set of Core Values that drive a continued vision:

The community is almost 4,000 acres with 4 large mountain lakes, a variety of parks, over 14 miles of hiking trails, many waterfalls, over 50 miles of private roads, and is less than 7 miles from downtown Brevard, NC. Our gated community offers 24 hour professionally staffed gates and patrols.

General Statement of Duties: Our security officers are responsible for protecting people and property from possible criminal activity by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, securing buildings and permitting or denying entry.
Essential Duties:
- There are 3 shifts for security and placement on a shift is determined by departmental need.
- Patrols and monitors an assigned area and documents findings.
- Enforces Rules and Regulation of CFPOA and advises manager, and other CFPOA management and administrative staff.
- Reports suspicious activities to local authorities when situation warrants
- Reports unsafe conditions that can cause injury to people and/or damage to property to management.
- Monitors surveillance cameras, inspects property, and monitors crowds.
- Controls entry into community by verifying guest pass and requesting photo identification for guests entering when needed.
- Uses phone to confirm or verify approval of guest, worker, or contractor prior to their entrance into the community.
- Verifies Bar Codes and guest passes by using access control software.
- Contacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency.
- After business hours, checks doors, windows, and gates to ensure the Association’s property and buildings are properly secure.
- Investigates reports of suspicious activity on property within the community.
- Escorts terminations, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises.
- Maintains cleanliness of interior of gatehouses, patrol vehicle and equipment, as well as other common Security areas as requested by management.
- Answers inquiries from property owners, guests and general public as needed.
- Completes incident report by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; taking photos; obtaining signatures as needed.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Adheres to Security’s standard operating procedures.
- Gives directions to residents, guests, contractors, employees to locations on the property.
- Answers questions and gives directions to motorist and tourists who come to gates.
Emergency Management Responsibilities:
During emergency conditions, all Security employees are automatically considered emergency service workers. Security employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, snow and ice storms or other emergency and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 20 years of age due to insurance requirements.
- 1 year of work experience in law enforcement, security guard or related field preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
- Must pass criminal background check.
- CPR / AED/ First Aid certification preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction within the company, staff, community members and outside vendors.
- Must be able to work in a safety sensitive environment.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be able to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
- Must be able to work well in a team environment and treat them with dignity and respect.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Must be able to read, analyze and interpret instructions, guidelines and/or communications and respond accordingly.
- Must be able to learn the layout of the community and buildings.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift, carry or shovel objects weighing up to 50 and occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to perform physical labor requiring continual and repetitive use of large motor skills to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, crawl, crouch, shovel, push, pull, twist, turn, stretch, reach, and continual and repetitive use of fine motor skills and manual dexterity.
- Must be able to maintain balance, work safely on steep slopes with elevation of 2,800 feet.
- Must be able to work around equipment that generates noise, vibration and heat.
- Must be able to hear, see, taste, touch and smell. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish colors and different shades of color.
- Must be able to comply with safety and health requirements.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperature and in inclement weather.
- Must be able to drive a car.
- Must be physically able to capture and detail individuals, if necessary.
- Must be able to patrol and properly access areas quickly.
- Must possess good hygiene and have a neat and clean appearance.
Work Schedule:
Full-time weekly shift averages 30-40 hours a week and may exceed 40 hours during peak season. Part-time weekly shift averages 20-29 hours a week and may occasionally exceed 30 hours during peak season. During emergency situations, work shift may exceed 12 hours a day.
