The Division of Operations & Maintenance (Main Station) within the Emory National Primate Research Center at Emory University is currently seeking a full time Security Officer to join our team. Our work consists of supporting the EPC community by providing exceptional building, grounds, and security operations.

The ideal candidate should be motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, have a positive attitude. The Security Guard will be a team player who is willing to learn on the job and collaborate with other facilities operations team members. The Security Guard will work to ensure a safe and productive environment for the EPC community.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Patrols facilities and property making observations to detect unauthorized persons or activities and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains visibility to deter criminal activity; reports minor violations to police or other law enforcement personnel.
  • Provides restraint under lawful direction and may administer first aid or CPR in emergency situations.
  • Follows organizational guidelines in reporting security- related information.
  • Provides coverage to building reception desk. Provides access to delivery vehicles and screens visitors for authorized entry.
  • Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One year of military or security experience
  • Able to exercise physical restraint
  • May require a valid Georgia Driver's license and insurable driving record.

PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
  • Requires the ability to bend, kneel, and/or squat

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
