JOB DESCRIPTION:

Requires continuous standing and walking in the area to ensure screening, visibility, deterrence and VA guidelines are met for entry into the building.

Observe all personnel entering the facility/grounds when suspected of carrying weapons, showing hostility, or being unauthorized personnel.

Directs visitors, patients, deliveries to various parts of facility grounds or buildings

The guard is expected to enforce the smoking policy in the area and shall contact the VA Police Service for ticketing (if needed).

Observe and conduct COVID Screening in accordance with VA Procedures for all personnel entering the facility.

Assist patients in wheelchairs when needed.

The security guard shall be issued a radio for communication with the VACOHS Police

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Demonstrating the ability to meet and deal with the general public and the ability to maintain poise and self-control under stress.

Shall demonstrate the ability to read, understand and apply printed rules, detailed orders, instruction, and training materials.

Shall demonstrate the ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate and detailed reports.

Shall be literate in English to the extent of reading and understanding printed regulation, detailed written orders, training instruction and material, and shall be able to compose reports which convey complete information in a clear and concise manner, accurate and detailed of incidents occurring on his/her tour of duty.
