SENIOR APPLICATIONS ENGINEER

JOB SUMMARY

An integral part of the sales process, the Senior Applications Engineer is a cross-functional collaborator that will drive product-oriented conversations with prospective customers at all levels. With a deep understanding of our product base, the Senior Applications Engineer will drive customer adoption for a portfolio of solutions that can be tailored to fit any technical environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leads system solution concepting analysis and design efforts
• Performs on-site analysis for data gathering prior to design
• Performs required data analysis to understand customer business requirements to build concept designs
• Develops scope of work and concept documentation for internal and external project team members
• Effectively delegates work to mechanical, controls, and software engineers as needed to support study, estimating, and proposal generation efforts
• Interfaces with customer engineering and end-user contacts during the project concept design and analysis phase
• Designs automated systems using SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD when required
• Designs automated material handling equipment layouts using AutoCAD
• Develops proposals and presentations with the sales and engineering teams for presentation to customers.
• Travels to the customer site to support field efforts (10% - 20% travel required)

EDUCATION AND TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Systems Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience, required
• 5+ years in the design of automated material handling systems and robotic handling systems required
• Prior experience working in the industrial automation sector, preferred

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Analytical mind with proven ability to dissect problems, devise solutions, and drive business outcomes
• Highly motivated, self-starter detail and goal-oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of mechanical design practices for automated systems, conveyor systems, robotic systems, pneumatic systems, and end-of-arm tooling
• Strong understanding of controls and software engineering concepts and practices as they relate to the control and function of automated systems
• Strong proficiency in concept design engineering for customized automation and tooling
• Strong proficiency in general mechanical design using AutoCAD
• Proficient in production and manufacturing data analysis and reporting results using industry-standard tools
• Knowledgeable of industry standards and safety standards for automated systems
• Knowledgeable in the design of automated systems using Fanuc robots
• ABB, KUKA, and Yaskawa Robot system design
• Robot programming experience is a plus
• Material handling and AS/RS system design is a plus
