General Summary
Under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Global Packaging , this position is currently responsible for the procurement of Ingredients for all Campbell business units with an annual spend valued at over $90 MM. The individual will ensure quality of materials, competitive pricing, market understanding for input materials into ingredients, adherence to company policies, procurement processes and endeavors related to the operation of a proactive and strategic Global Procurement Business Unit.
Principle Accountabilities
  • Execute and provide input for the category management strategies set by the Procurement Leadership Team for cost reduction or value enhancement that result in tangible benefits to the bottom line.
  • Drive robust category strategies across plant networks, supply base, and align with business goals and objectives. Evaluate strategies based on changing global market conditions and provide inputs during strategic sourcing activities, including internal and external analysis and negotiations
  • Assess realized benefits from sourcing and develop improvement strategies and initiatives post-sourcing
  • Stay abreast of leading-edge purchasing techniques and champion the use of formal category management techniques and processes
  • Continuously improve upon personal skills – adopting continuous learning and skill development and seeking feedback
  • Prepare monthly commodity projections and market conditions to various global business units that impact current and future pricing.
  • Working with the Commodity Risk Management Team and Supply Base to understand cost drivers within the Flavor category to develop strategies and tools that will be incorporated within contracts with suppliers that deliver cost transparency into finished material price movement.

Job Complexity
Responsible for over $90MM of Ingredient Spend which currently includes Flavors, Colors, Yeast & Miscellaneous Food Grade Chemicals supporting Meals & Beverage and Snack's Business Units. This position is currently responsible for ~340 skus and ~60 suppliers (80% of work is done with ~10-15 core suppliers)
  • Ensure items are purchased in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Development of commodity components that drive cost within the packaging category and utilization of the commodity knowledge to support business objectives
  • Evaluate and purchase materials for our facilities at a competitive cost. Must be knowledgeable of commodity characteristics and marketplace cost drivers. Close interaction with Corporate, Business Units and Plant personnel
  • Execute and provide input to strategy (Sourcing, risk mitigation, enabler opportunities, business continuity) ensuring competitiveness and limiting risk to Campbell Soup Company
  • Lead cross functional groups to develop Productivity programs that deliver Enabler and Total Procurement Value (TPV) targets. (Category Management)
  • Support Supplier Relationship Management programs that focus on Quality, Productivity and Innovation.
  • Subject Matter Expert of Global Ingredient category specific information on spend, supplier performance, user adoption and compliance, standards and specifications and industry benchmarks
  • Ensure all contracts are issued timely and accurately
  • Promote value engineering analyses to support ongoing performance improvement and cost reduction
  • Develop and actively promote Campbell’s Supplier Diversity and ESG Programs
  • Development and support of formula cost models for category competitiveness

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Highly Organized individual with ability to balance the many tactical and strategic responsibilities of the role
  • Bachelors Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain or Food Science
  • 4 + years of relevant experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and data analytics expertise needed to manage high volume of items and financial projections
  • Ability to develop overall material category strategies incorporating Procurement functional and business needs with skills to implement plans effectively
  • Ability to support negotiations for major and complex buckets of spend
  • Support and occasionally lead large, complex, or multiple projects effectively
  • Support defined expectations for core and extended team members annual goals
  • Good inter-personal skills to navigate and bridge multifunction’s as well as levels of organization
  • Stretches cross functional team perspective — faster, broader, deeper insights into issues and potential ramifications

Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$72,900.00 - $131,100.00
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
