        South Dakota State University (SDSU) seeks a creative and innovative professional to develop and implement marketing and communication strategy, oversight, coordination and content for outreach and promotional activities for the SDSU College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES), South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and SDSU Extension. The successful candidate will manage communications and work as the primary storyteller to effectively describe and promote the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station’s research activities to local, regional, and national audiences. The CAFES Senior Communications Coordinator will be a print, digital and video content creator targeting various audiences and media to effectively describe and promote the college, its departments, faculty, researchers, and work. This position is a 12 month administrative appointment that reports to the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences Director of Marketing and Communications.

        RESPONSIBILITIES:
      
      
        The College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences Senior Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a cohesive marketing strategy utilizing high-quality web, video and promotional content to raise awareness of South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station research initiatives.

This position will also provide best-practice guidance and leadership to internal and external College activities related to academic programs and the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station and manages other communications, events, and related projects as assigned.
 
       
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
      The College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences Senior Communications Coordinator is both a print and digital storyteller and maintains a robust up-to-date web presence through both the SDSU website and in support of South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station research locations. This position will also provide best-practice guidance and leadership to internal and external College activities related to academic programs and the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station and manages other communications, events, and related projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or Communication and Media Studies with an emphasis on agricultural communication, completed by start date;
 - At least one year of experience, including internships, in public relations, journalism, and communications on behalf of agricultural stakeholders;
 - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position;
 - Effective written communication skills including experience writing press releases;
 - Possess excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
 - Experience producing and editing promotional videos;
 - Ability to manage website and social media content; and
 - Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Effective team work, organization, and multitasking skills;
 - Knowledge of Associated Press style;
 - Knowledge of the land-grant mission
 - Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or other video and image editing and desktop publishing software
 - Experience with marketing automation and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools such as HubSpot.
