Compensation:

Salary Range (Grade B/789): $104,077- $154,437.

Responsibilities:

The selected incumbent will assist in developing maintenance and construction initiatives and manage an engineering group engaged in maintenance and repair, construction design and inspection of various elements of rapid transit infrastructure. Duties will include: ensuring adherence to specifications, engineering and safety standards and NYC Transit policies for maintenance and construction work on the elements of rapid transit infrastructure; utilizing accepted structural evaluation techniques and non-destructive testing technology to inspect and evaluate tunnels, elevated structures, under-river tubes, stations, retaining walls, facilities, yards, emergency exits and manholes to ensure safety and security within the transit system; and, providing the direct support required to keep the NYC Transit system operable and maintainable to ensure the safety, availability and on-time reliability of NYC Transit’s equipment. The incumbent must be prepared to respond to emergencies and other critical occurrences, as required, on a 24/7 basis.

Education and Experience:

1. A baccalaureate degree in Engineering or a related field, and a minimum of eight (8) years of full-time related experience, of which at least four (4) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory/administrative capacity; or

2. A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.

However, all applicants must possess a valid NY State P.E. (Professional Engineer) License.

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of engineering inspection techniques, construction design and standards maintenance methods, materials and vendors for tunnels, elevated structures, under-river tubes and other structural elements.
• Extensive related experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in using computer tracking and information systems is desirable.
• Experience in designing integrated structural systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.

All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.

Other Information:
