Auriga Corporation has the following position open in Milpitas, California office.

Position: Senior Traction Power Engineer

Experience: 10 or more years of experience as Traction Power Engineer or similar capacity..

Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree is preferred.

License: Valid Registration as a Professional Electrical Engineer in the State of California is required

Job Description:

  • Serve as a Traction Power Systems Engineer for the conceptual, preliminary and final design for complex rail and transit projects. Responsibilities include:
  • Work with a team in coordinating systems engineering design for rail transit projects involving power distribution, traction power, SCADA, substations, and systems integration testing and startup activities
  • 10 or more years of experience with dc traction power system design including the design of 600 to 1500 Volt dc rail transit traction power substations, ac and dc switchgear, transformers, rectifiers, and controls
  • Experience in design and/or construction workeragement of rail transit systems/facilities such as traction power substations, rail maintenance & storage facilities, PDS, CBTC, SCADA and APM signals/train control, and APM communications is preferred
  • Knowledge of railroading, signaling, communications, vehicles, and other railroad technology including requirements management software is preferred
  • Perform load calculations and coordination studies and analysis for facility electrical and traction power systems utilizing engineering software, like ETAP and SKM
  • Experience in 12 kV AC to 34 kV AC and 600 to 1500 Volt dc rail transit traction power substations, ac and dc switchgear, transformers, rectifiers, and controls
  • Develop technical reports and white papers
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematic diagrams
  • Experience in performing electrical load studies, harmonic mitigation plans and field investigations to obtain required electrical data
  • Responsible for assisting in the preparation of design drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Developing, analyzing load flow analysis
  • Assuring accuracy of the work produced by the design team and contractors, including plans, specifications and test procedures/reports
  • Responsible for interfacing with the other disciplines to insure proper coordination of the systems aspects of the project
  • Assist with power systems integration design, verification, and validation
  • Assures compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations
  • Analyze system failures and suggest appropriate resolutions
  • Determine electrical equipment needs and quantities for development of new power systems.
  • Assist in the creation of engineering development test plans, factory acceptance test plans, and site commissioning tests and reports
  • Knowledge of the principles of power distribution systems and traction power
  • Familiarity with rail transit industry standards, practices, and regulations is required
  • Conduct critical maintainability and test ability demonstrations to confirm equipment can achieve contractual reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety (RAMS) requirements
  • Responding to government and local municipal “RFP” relating to electrical engineering services
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are required including presentations to stakeholders,
  • Attention to details, strong client relationships and teamwork
  • Must be proficient in the use of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate-level AutoCAD proficiency is desirable
  • Must be willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area, California, if not local

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $158,473.80 - $169,910.38 per year
