GEICO is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with a passion for building high performance, low-latency platforms and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we redefine experience for our customers.

Position Description

Our Senior Engineer is a key member of the engineering staff working across Business Services Engineering, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Infrastructure Engineering to ensure that we provide a fiction-less experience to our customers, maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between.

Position Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer, you will:

• Manage the complete software development process from conception to deployment.
• Scope, design, implement and unit test frontend features for new and existing web applications.
• Design data driven Restful APIs that orchestrates between frontend and backend mircoservices.
• Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution.
• Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle.
• Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization.
• Define, create and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective.
• Mentor other engineers.
• Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.

Qualifications:

Advanced programming experience with Typescript, ES6+, ReactJS, Redux and Jest.

Advanced understanding of micro-frontend architecture with client side composition methods.

Experience building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

Understanding of existing Monitoring Portals: Splunk or Application Insights

Understanding of DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture.

Understanding of DataCenter Structure, Capabilities & Offerings, including the Azure platform and it's native services.

Practical knowledge of working in Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).

Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CICD).

In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms.

Strong problem-solving ability.

Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.

Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication).

Experience:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years of experience with architecture and design
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• 2+ years of experience in open source frameworks

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
