Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist with experience in environmental compliance, NPDES Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) compliance, transportation stormwater (TS4) compliance, and project management. In this role, the successful candidate will lead compliance projects for federal or. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 20 years of experience with environmental compliance, transportation or federal facility stormwater programs, MS4 permits, stormwater inspections, and sediment and erosion control projects. The candidate will work collaboratively with other senior staff and be responsible for coordination and completion of various project elements. The candidate will serve in a senior client-focused role leading and managing projects, producing high quality deliverables, maintaining project schedules, coordination with clients, contributing to practice growth, providing client training, and mentoring junior staff.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Lead or support high profile, complex compliance projects and studies under federal, state, and local rules and regulations (e.g., NPDES/MS4 permits, Clean Water Act)
+ Support DHS, NCDOT, DOE, and other clients
+ Supporting strategic contingency plans for federal clients
+ Lead or support trainings provided to a broad range of regulatory, industrial, and private citizen stakeholders.
+ Facilitate community engagement and participate in long-range planning and project development
+ Prepare written and graphic reports and make presentations.
+ Prepare scientific and compliance-related documents regarding stormwater, water quality, watershed management, and best management practices
+ Develop and manage project budgets and schedules
+ Lead or support in developing proposals in response to local, state, and federal client RFQs.
+ Limited travel to support clients and projects
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor´s degree in environmental sciences, natural resources, or related field and 8 years of directly applicable experience.
+ Ability to write well, distill supporting information in the scientific literature, communicate technical issues to a wide range of readers
+ Strong, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
+ Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Project management experience
+ 10 years of consulting experience.
