Senior General Ledger Accountant Job at Nilfisk
This position currently works on-site at our Ft. Pierce office located at 7300 Commercial Cir, Fort Pierce, FL 34951. Working hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
MAJOR FUNCTION
This position will be a utility accounting position assisting in several areas of finance within the department. This role will assist in monthly close, assist in backup and cross-training for other internal department positions, and will also participate in annual budgeting and audit processes which includes internal or external auditing firms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in GL coding of invoices, set-up and maintenance of new accounts in ERP system, GL account reconciliations, assist with AR function.
- Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, reconciles cash disbursements accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Assists in providing internal and external auditors with account information and / or documents as requested.
- Assist with monthly close which includes fixed asset reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and monthly accruals.
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results on time as needed.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles); office methods and procedures; statistical and mathematical presentation of data; advanced proficiency with current MS Office Applications, web browsers and query tools.
- Assist in special projects, audits, or other assigned projects as needed.
- Backup for A/R and A/P functions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
EXPERIENCE: 3 or more years of experience in general accounting; proven experience as a General Ledger Accountant and/or Staff Account (salary dependent on level of experience)
KNOWLEDGE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Good auditing skills and techniques
- Must have a good willingness to learn and be a team player.
- Highly proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experienced using ERP software: Great Plains, Sage, and SAP preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently or with a team.
- Must have the ability to meet deadlines, and work under pressure to meet quick closing schedule.
- Strong knowledge of business processes and controls. (IE: Sarbanes Oxley, Euro-Sox, etc.
- Demonstration of working cross-functionally.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- ERP system preferred experience – Sage / Great Plains / SAP
- Microsoft Office Suite; especially Excel
