JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Grassroots Campaigns & Alliances is responsible for managing federal grassroots legislative campaigns of varying size and scope that advance the mission priorities of ACS CAN. Will work to support a portfolio of diverse grassroots volunteer caucuses and communities focused on similar goals to accelerate cancer cures, improve access to care and fight big tobacco. Support organizational capacity building through account management of diverse partnerships through data system management in partnership with cross-functional teams. The incumbent must be innovative and enthusiastic in helping to advance mission priorities that focus on goals that support ACS CAN’s overarching health equity agenda.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and manage grassroots campaigns at the federal level. Campaigns will vary in scope and size and will include, but not be limited to, tobacco control, prostate cancer screening, and patient navigation.
  • At the direction of the Senior Director, Grassroots Campaigns, will work in partnership with national ACS CAN teams, including Federal Relations, Advocacy Communications and Policy Development, to implement federal campaigns, as assigned.
  • Serve as primary liaison to ACS CAN state and regional teams on federal grassroots campaigns within the Senior Manager’s portfolio, including managing congressional recess planning and developing tactics for field engagement.
  • Work with external coalition partners to develop joint campaign strategies.
  • Represent ACS CAN to internal and external audiences as a trainer and speaker.
  • Manage the execution of expanding partnerships for organizational capacity building with communities of color, including direct management of ACS CAN volunteer affinity groups, as assigned.
  • Assist with developing needs for additional diverse and inclusive pathways for volunteer leaders through ACS CAN volunteer affinity groups, as assigned.
  • In partnership with cross-functional teams, serves as the account manager for diverse strategic partnerships through systems management, primarily through Salesforce.
  • Serves as the point of contact for DEI training follow up and management of volunteer needs to expand diverse partnerships based on campaign needs.


Position Requirements

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE

Bachelor’s Degree and 4-6 years of experience working directly with volunteers and/or alliance partnerships on grassroots programs and campaigns. Familiarity/Demonstrated history of working with diverse partners and individuals. Demonstrated ability to work with data collection systems, such as Salesforce.


SKILLS

  • Proven ability to lead work groups and project teams grounded in strong interpersonal skills and experience cultivating relationships with staff and volunteer leaders.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the federal legislative process and Direct Action Organizing.
  • Strong data systems management skills required.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel and work in multicultural environments essential.
The starting rate is $69000-$86000 annual. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
