Summary: The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints.

Job Responsibilities:
- Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.
- Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.

Skills:
- Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
- Team player and detail oriented.
- Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- 2-4 years experience required.

Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
A Product Engineer supporting the Electromagnetic Actuator & Valve Team at Client. This specific position will be supporting engine actuators that control air, gas and fluid flow for various new development and product support projects. Research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of electro-mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes.
Support and lead projects to develop and maintain electro-magnetic control valves for engines. Develop and manage firmware for valves that have embedded controls. Independently conduct hands on testing in component and engine labs located in Mossville Illinois. The main function of a Electro-mechanical Valve Engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of electro mechanical valves, test equipment, systems and processes.

Typical task breakdown:
Each day would be very dynamic and different depending on the specific projects and phases of the projects you are working on. Collaborating with system teams, outside suppliers, and testing labs to ensure new products are successful & existing product issues are resolved quickly. Expect to have multiple high priority projects that make the days go by quickly. New engineers to the team will spend significant amounts of time in our component testing labs located in Mossville Building AC and in our engine test labs located at our Technical Center located nearby.

Education & Experience Required:
- Five years’ experience minimum required (education and experience in both ME & EE engineering domains is preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics engineering required
- Will consider Master’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics engineering as two years’ experience toward requirement
- PhD would be considered overqualified

Technical Skills
(Required)
- Previous experience with typical computer applications and software related to engineering field.
- Understanding of engine and emission control systems.
- Candidates who have work experience with similar products will be passed through. - Air/Fluid electrical valves, Torque Motor, engine control valves, etc.

(Desired)
- Understanding of electricity & magnetism and how it is applied to actuate mechanical and hydraulic mechanisms.
- Ability to create detailed & actionable verification and validation test plans from product knowledge and a high-level understanding of application risk.
- Work with internal test labs, supplier test labs, and machine/engine field testing sites to execute these plans.
- Ability to interpret GD&T, technical drawings, and schematics.
