Senior Mechanical Engineer Job at Navistar, Inc.

The individual will provide technical and analytical supportion Purpose and Requirements:t to Integrated Product Development. They will serve as an engineering resource for the delivery of and vehicle components and systems via Design & Release (NX / Team Center), BOM management, Engineering Change Management, Issue Resolution, Manufacturing issues, Validation Testing, Supplier Quality, and Purchasing as the product(s) moves through the program gates from concept to production and distribution.
The position will be located at Lisle within the Vehicle Cooling SMT. There are minimal travel requirements with this position but periodic trips to the testing facilities and prototype vehicles in San Antonio, TX will be necessary, as well as build support at the various vehicle plants, or trips to supplier engineering offices and manufacturing plants.

Responsibilities:
- CAD Model and print creation/release in NX/Team Center
- Collaboration with the CAE group
- Creating Component and System Design Requirements Documents (DRD’s)
- GD&T and Tolerance Stack Calculations
- Organizing and creating Bills Of Materials for large assemblies
- DFMEA and DVP&R creation and support in execution of APQP process
- 1D engineering calculations in Excel, VBA, and/or MATLab
- Support issue resolutions using rigorous problem-solving practices
- Create product build books for manufacturing and service
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
- Experience in truck and/or automotive design and development
- Experience with requirement documentation and system engineering
- Experience with Vehicle, Powertrain or Engine Cooling System design
- Design and layout experience using Unigraphics UG-NX2 or any CAD related modeling software
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects
- Familiarity with design quality tools including:
- Failure Modes Effects Analysis & DVP
- Design for Manufacturing
- Design for Assembly
- Basic Dimensional Management (GD&T, etc.)
- Statistical Tolerance Stack-up
- Problem solving skills such as 8D, 3 legged 5 Why’s and statistical problem solving is a plus
