Senior Project Architect - Healthcare

Schmidt Associates is looking for a Healthcare Architect. The Healthcare Architect will be the primary designer and manager working with clients to achieve project success, leading collaboration with designers, engineering, equipment vendors and construction teams through all phases of design. The position is a tactically focused design leadership position within our Healthcare Studio located in Louisville, Kentucky, but which serves local, regional, and international clients alike.
The candidate will be responsible for the implementation of projects through an Integrated Project Delivery model to fully achieve owner goals and objectives, cultivate and secure relationships that lead to future referrals. The position requires strong organizational, problem solving, written and oral communication, logistics, and management. Must be able to balance technical solutions with time, cost, and human factors. The ability to establish and nurture client relationships is essential.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Owners in strategic planning, master planning, programming, preliminary design, and budgeting for healthcare needs. In this role, this individual will
  • Design solutions that can be technically implemented within the constraints of an organization’s goals, budgets, and scheduling needs.
  • Should be familiar with design best practices, healthcare design innovations, trends, and governance restrictions.
  • Should be familiar with standard forms of contracts, deliverables under basic and additional services and will work with the project team and management to achieve profitability.
  • Participate in business development activities, to target clients or market opportunities, will assist in development of proposals and presentations.
Experience/Education:
  • Accredited professional degree in Architecture Architectural Registration
  • NCARB Registration is desirable
  • 5+ years of experience working with healthcare clients is desired
  • Sustainable design accreditation is a plus
  • Project Management experience a plus
  • Familiarity in the capability and benefits of architectural and performance analytical software such as Revit, AutoCAD, 3D modeling, parametric design and performance analysis software preferred
