CFD Research Corporation is seeking a highly qualified Senior Research Engineer supporting the Advanced Optics group. The candidate will help develop prototype imaging systems that combine nanostructured optical materials with advanced image processing algorithms. Experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning is highly desired. The candidate should have a strong technical background, as well as a desire to develop and commercialize innovative technologies. The Senior Research Engineer will work collaboratively as a member of a research and development team and must possess strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ph.D. degree (or Master's degree with 2+ years of experience) in optics, physics, computer science, or engineering
• Broad understanding of ray optics, diffractive optics, and image/signal processing
  
• Strong applied mathematical skills including machine learning, statistics, inverse problems, neural networks, etc.
• Experience designing, building, and characterizing prototype optical systems
• Programming experience, especially in machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch
• Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills
• US Citizen and ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Security Clearance
