Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Senior Technical Advisor.
Our team works on site with a 9x80 schedule located at our ERO facility with every other Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
INL is looking for a national expert in space nuclear power and propulsion technology to serve as a Senior Technical Advisor to the Space Fission manager:
Advise and help develop a strategy for research, development, and deployment of space fission technology and who can drive technology development forward.
We are looking for an individual who has a strong grasp on the current state of the art of reactor technologies and can articulate technical gaps and strengths across a range of reactor design types.
Familiarity with Space Reactor policy and requirements, such launch approval, licensing, and safety is a must.
Mentorship of staff and interns is also an important part of the position.

Minimum Requirements:
PR0400: PhD and 4 years or a MS and 6 years experience in and engineering field, nuclear or physics preferred
PR0500: PhD and 6 years or MS and 8 years in and engineering field, nuclear or physics preferred
Must have at least 4-6 years of reactor design experience, specifically with Space Nuclear Reactors
Must be able to quickly assess and review design from other sources and provide feedback and assessments to senior leadership.
Must be collaborative, being able to work with industry, national laboratory, and government leaders effectively, both at the engineering level and the senior leadership level
Must be an effective mentor, helping to grow less-experienced staff into effective space reactor engineers
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Salary Grade PR0400 240 ($139,488 - $237,144)
Salary Grade PR0500 250 ($160,440 - $272,724)
