The Shipping & Receiving Specialist coordinates all activities associated with the shipment of outgoing products and the receipt of incoming products and materials and assists production as needed.

Major Roles & Responsibilities:

• Works with Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to coordinate and prioritize all outgoing and incoming shipments according to the shipping list, work assignments, customer orders and other business factors
• Works with Shipping & Receiving Supervisor and Quality to sample incoming Raw Materials
• Obtains from Purchasing Agent a schedule of expected materials and shipments to be received
• Ensures that appropriate audit trails are followed for all incoming shipments and new purchase orders
• Examines contents and compares with records such as manifests, packing slips, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment
• Confers and corresponds with establishment representatives to rectify problems such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specifications
• Receives shipments into shipping area
• Samples Raw Materials and Components that have been received and provides samples to Quality Control for testing
• Transports approved shipments from shipping platform to storage areas, and materials as requested to departments
• Receives and processes requests from Production to deliver stored products such as Raw Material, packaging components and pallets to appropriate production area in the absence of the Manufacturing Support Technician
• Assures that the warehouse is kept clean and orderly at all times Monitors inventory levels of Raw Materials and supplies and notifies Director of Manufacturing, Purchasing Agent as appropriate for shipping meeting
• Prepares product for shipments including using stretch wrap for pallets
• Prepares documents such as, bills of lading, MSDS sheets and shipping documents to route materials and ensures appropriate documentation
• Transports product from final staging area to shipping platform
• Performs final product inspection before shipment
• Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks
• Performs loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
• Schedules transportation for outgoing shipments
• Reconciles and enters deliveries into Fishbowl
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date warehouse inventory in an Excel Spreadsheet
• Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by management
• Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of related experience.
• Ability to drive a fork lift.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Must be able to lift, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, reach, climb, crawl, and carry
• Must be able to distinguish color
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume as well as the ability to convert kilos to pounds.

Physical Requirements:

• Lift up to 55 lbs
• Climb ladders and/or stairs
• Crawl, bend, twist, carry, reach, and kneel throughout shift Push and/or pull up to 100 lbs
• Stand and/or walk for extended periods
• Work with and/or around chemicals and/or hazardous material
• Repeating motion that may include arms, wrists, hands, and fingers Ability to see and distinguish color
