AGC Heat Transfer, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Alfa Laval, AB, is the leading OEM of sanitary plate heat exchangers in North America, manufacturing plate heat exchangers specifically designed for sanitary applications. AGC offers complete heat exchangers, services as well as upgrades to plate packs, gaskets and spares that fit multiple brands. In addition, AGC offers Field Leak Testing and inspections of plate heat exchangers that meet the 3-A sanitary standard.

AGC Heat Transfer consists of three manufacturing/service facilities (Bristow, VA, Fairview, OR & Pleasant Prairie, WI) with about 110 employees (70 OR / 20 VA / 20 other locations). Currently, most of the sales are in the US & Canada. The business is profitable and has more than doubled sales since Alfa Laval acquired it in 2007. AGC Heat Transfer has a strong engineering culture with a heavy emphasis on customer service and technical/consultative sales.

Job Description

The Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple work cells in a plate heat exchanger servicing & manufacturing location. This includes ensuring the implementation of safety standards and maintaining output of quality products in an efficient manner. In doing this, the Shop Supervisor will be communicating, planning, and corresponding between departments with a production team of 10+ employees. This position will also be responsible for overseeing inventory of heat exchanger parts and various supplies, the shipping/receiving of goods, providing field technician support/supplies, maintaining a constant supply chain in collaboration with the Purchasing department, and working with the Sales department with job/order scheduling. This includes advising of available stock, planning ship dates/details, and providing up-to-date lead times.

Position Responsibilities

· Ensures that the day-to-day operations of the shop remain as safe and efficient as possible, while maintaining the utmost quality in order fulfillment and employee morale.

· Leads the team of employees at AGC’s Bristow facility in a positive and constructive way to maintain morale and ensure consistent daily output.

· Coach and develop employees and provide/oversee training of employees in different tasks and departments.

· Enforces accountability to effectively track work progress, use of resources, and bring issues to solutions with positive outcomes.

· Implements 5S/lean manufacturing practices throughout the shop.

· Leads/attends Status Board meetings with multiple departments and collaborates with department personnel/leads to prioritize tasks.

· Plans daily work based on priorities, order intake, available resources, and utilization of shop personnel.

· Communicates effectively with AGC’s Sales Department to clearly indicate lead times, requirements for order fulfillment, and review expectations. This requires constant, clear, and effective communication.

· Maintain good stewardship for the company, ensuring that resources are being utilized properly and responsibly.

· Oversees orders as they are received into the shop workflow and prioritizes each order/job as a task for the appropriate departments.

· Receives and maintains inbound inventory, communicating regularly with Procurement regarding stock levels, shortages, and incoming stock shipments.

· Communicates with multiple AGC locations regarding internal stock transfers.

· Coordinates the inbound supply chain of stock items from various vendors utilizing LTL, Air, and Sea Freight methods.

· Heavy involvement in outbound shipping and maintaining constructive relationships with our inbound and outbound freight carriers.

· Assists the Service Department by shipping/providing equipment needed for field service and coordinating shipping options/costs with the Service Manager.

· Maintains in-house shop and office supply needs by communicating those needs with Purchasing or sourcing independently when required.

Skills & Qualifications

· High School diploma or GED preferred or relevant work experience.

· Excellent skills in written and verbal communication are required.

· Ability to think critically and creatively to maximize output, solve problems, and plan workflow.

· Ability to multi-task and support/execute tasks in multiple facets of the company.

· Experience/familiarity with systems & methodologies used in manufacturing to include 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen

· Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Familiarity with order management systems (EM10), or ability to effectively navigate computer-based systems.

· Knowledge of plate heat exchanger frames, plates, and gaskets is a plus.

· Strong skills in time management, planning, and attention to detail.

· Ability to work in a diverse work environment.

· Knowledge in Spanish or bi-lingual (English-Spanish) is a plus.
