DevOps Engineer in Global Infrastructure domain engages in a wide variety of cloud migration and cloud adoption projects using the DevOps model for users of our services and partners, providing collective experience from across the IBM Cloud customer base. Key Responsibilities are: Work in Agile, collaborative environment to build, deploy, configure, and maintain systems, which may include software installations, updates, and core services. Manage problem identification, system architecture definition, software specification and design, implementation, testing, customer training, and deployment of open source solutions. Work with development teams to enable a continuous integration environment that sustains high productivity levels and emphasizes defect prevention techniques. Ability to automate test and deploy the code and monitor. Work in close coordination with the development and operations team such that the application is in line with performance according to the customer's expectation. Manage Infrastructure. Drive incidents/ RCA/ the corrective and preventive actions to closure. Build common tooling to solve problems, automate and ensure problems are not repeated.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for day-to-day onboarding, migrating, and managing application infrastructure and hosting solutions, as well as ensuring those solutions can perform at scale. You will work within a cross-functional team to deliver cloud solutions including the migration and restore of customer environments.
A key enabler of success for you will be the constant improvement of our ability to deliver value to IBM’s clients and the support business through the adoption and refinement of Agile practices. You will be responsible for infusing Agile into our culture and realizing tangible results. The quick, quality delivery of value and tools is highly prized.
We work in small, cross-functional teams with big goals, so you will need to be adaptive and a clear communicator. We strive to produce scalable solutions, and you will need to drive the creation and perfection of frameworks that produce those outcomes.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 4+ years experience supporting application infrastructure including RHEL OS as well as WAS and DB2 Middleware
- Experience building, maintaining, scaling, and monitoring containerized orchestrations (Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, etc.) with enterprise tools
- Experience in establishing automated frameworks using modern CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Travis, Docker, etc)
- Understanding and application of QA concepts (frontend testing, back-end testing, etc.)
- Adaptive to ambiguity and willing to change in an Agile environment
- Experience implementing and maintaining DevSecOps frameworks and practices
- Comfortable multi-tasking and working as part of a global team, as well as working independently and taking ownership
- Experience working in a dynamic, cross-functional team
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with modern scripting languages
- Demonstrated ability to operate within short release cycles

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
