Position Overview
The Hispanic/Latino Affairs is seeking to hire a dynamic, organized, and detailed-oriented employee to review and approve of Spanish translation requests completed by the Bureau of Latino Relations staff in a timely and accurate manner. This position coordinates the translation of complicated official agency documents, client letters and other materials from English to Spanish or from Spanish to English. Monitors the maintenance and accuracy of the English/Spanish Glossary and trains Department bilingual staff. Serves as designated lead worker to lower-level staff. Reviews and evaluates all client inquires handled by staff monthly to determine if barriers exist and systematic change is required and monitors and maintains the accuracy of the Latino and Ethnic community-based organization statewide lists. Travels in performance of job duties.
Job Responsibilities
- Reviews and approves of Spanish translation requests completed by the Bureau of Latino Relations staff in a timely and accurate manner.
- Coordinates the translation of complicated official agency documents, client letters and other materials from English to Spanish or from Spanish to English.
- Monitors the maintenance and accuracy of the English/Spanish Glossary and trains Department bilingual staff.
- Serves as designated lead worker to lower-level staff.
- Reviews and evaluates all client inquires handled by staff monthly to determine if barriers exist and systematic change is required.
- Monitors and maintains the accuracy of the Latino and Ethnic community-based organization statewide lists.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of master's degree.
- Requires two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in a community organization, social service work or in program planning and development.
- Requires ability to speak, read and write Spanish and at a colloquial skill level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience working with program objectives of agencies developing social policy.
- Two (2) years of professional experience working with the structure, organization, and methods of social welfare institutions.
- Two (2) years of professional experience exercising extensive initiative and independent judgment in developing and formulating policies, standards, and procedures for the service delivery system.
- Two (2) years of professional experience analyzing and evaluating programs and operations.
- Two (2) years of professional experience establishing effective working relationships with other staff, various groups and the public.
- Two (2) years of professional experience verifying program operations comply with all rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
