This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Crafts-Farrow, 7901 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC 29203.

As the Social Work Manager, working under limited supervision, you will perform diversified social work duties for a complex caseload consisting of patients with multiple
psycho-social problems including criminal charges. Completes assessments, group and individual treatment, discharge planning, and related duties. Services are provided to an inpatient population, 18 years of age and older. Under limited supervision and general administrative guidance, from the Director of Social Work or designee, will direct the activities of subordinates, as assigned.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Meets with supervisees as needed to review all aspects of essential job duties. In consultation with the director of Social Work, oversees time and attendance, competency and EPMS reviews, education and training to ensure compliance with policies/procedures and standards of practice for assigned subordinates. Provides regular administrative and clinical supervision to staff. This is accomplished by the following: 1) Performance Appraisals, Planning Stages and Competency Assessments will be completed according to established agency policy. 2) EPMS: all aspects of essential job duties and performance will be reviewed regularly in supervision with employee. 3) Individual supervision held monthly; maintain supervision notes of each session. 4) Reviews all leave slips and work schedules for subordinates.
  • Maintains a caseload of patients requiring intensive psychiatric treatment by completing all documentation and clinical services related to the caseload assigned
    to include, but not limited to, case management, group, individual, and family counseling/treatment, treatment planning, short-term interventions as needed, and
    discharge planning.
  • Participates in discharge planning activities and assumes the major role for implementation of referrals, scheduling of appointments and the sharing of
    recommendations with community agencies and programs to ensure continuity of care. This includes alternate care placements or facilitation with other resources
    such as establishing financial platform and other related matters.
  • Performs case coordination for multi-disciplinary treatment team process. Coordinates with treatment team, family, patients and other collateral sources, monitors
    patient's treatment and provides information for treatment team to ensure patients' needs are being met.
  • Prepares thorough and accurate Psychosocial Assessments and Forensic Review Board reports for assigned patients recommended for discharge. Community Disposition/Discharge Plan for patients approved for discharge, and other Clinical Assessments (including Report for Designated Examiner as assigned) as needed to facilitate treatment success and transition to the community. Reports are legible and professionally written with accurate punctuation and grammar.
  • Attends core competency training, (BEST, Infection Control, Patient Rights, HIPPA, etc.) and all required trainings as assigned. Attends monthly Social Work meetings and maintain Social Work Licensure. Maintains knowledge and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a field instructor or preceptor for students completing their field placement at Bryan Psychiatric Hospital. Completes appropriate paperwork as needed for the student and ensures the student meets all educational/contractual requirements.
  • Provides hazardous weather coverage and weekend coverage as required.

State Requirement: A bachelor's degree in social work from a program accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting body for social work programs, or from a social work program whose standards are at least equivalent to the minimum standards required by the nationally recognized accrediting body approved by the Board.

Agency Requirement: A master’s degree from a Social Work program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, LMSW-SC Board of Social Work Examiner's and one (1) year of practice experience at this level.
