Position Summary:
Performs high quality and accurate diagnostic ultrasound images. Interacts with patients, physicians, and staff in a professional and courteous manner. Maintains ultrasound equipment in optimum working condition. Applies knowledge of emergency protocols and procedures, and proper equipment utilization to maximize safety in the work environment.

Float requirements:
  • Hospital/ Clinic float sonographers are required to maintain competency at Methodist Hospital and clinic locations. Hospital/clinic float sonographers will be assigned to one of the 3 ultrasound regions for their weekend rotation and will be in the hospital holiday rotation.
  • Locations float sonographers are scheduled at can be changed up to and including the day of the scheduled shift due to staffing needs, sick calls, expertise of non-float staff, vacations and open shifts.

Education/Experience:

Graduate from an accredited School of Medical Sonography or equivalent; plus additional specialized training or at least one year of ultrasound experience preferred. Must be willing to participate in continuing education to remain current on technical advances as they occur.

Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Must have a strong anatomy and physiology background.
  • Ability to assess results, problem solve, and use independent judgment.
  • Must be registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Registered by ARDMS and RVT within 6 months of hire required.
  • Must maintain current CPR skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.

This is a full time South- Central clinic/hospial float position.
