Spanish and French Teacher (SY 23-24 anticipated opening) Job at South Portland School Department
Seeking a dynamic Spanish and French teacher to work with our 5th-8th grade students at South Portland Middle School (SPMS). SPMS is a new school which will open its doors for the first time in the Fall of 2023. At South Portland Middle School, all students take a semester of World Language which exposes them to Spanish for 9 weeks and French for 9 weeks. In 6th and 7th grade, students choose either French or Spanish for a semester, and in 8th grade students continue with their chosen language for a year-long course.
This position includes teaching Spanish and French to grades 5-7, and Spanish to grade 8. The successful candidate will have experience working with racially, linguistically, and economically diverse youth and their families. Experience planning, teaching and assessing using a proficiency-based learning systems preferred. In addition, experience with PBIS, restorative justice practices, and MTSS is preferred.
Flexibility, desire, and the enthusiasm to open a brand new school as well as the excitement to work with middle schoolers required!
