Speech Therapy Assistant SLA

Job Summary

Head to Toe Kids Therapy is looking for skilled and enthusiastic Speech-Language Pathologist to provide quality care to children within the natural environment (i.e. home, daycare, private school). Execute, organize & document progress using a Speech Pathologist's treatment plan for children with speech, language, voice and fluency impairments in a clinic/home/school/community setting.

General Accountability

• Independent Contractor must be self motivated to provide own industry tools, materials & transportation.
• Performs hearing and/or speech and language examinations to learn the patient's degree of impairment.
• Evaluates hearing and /or speech and language test results.
• Evaluates barium swallow results and/or other test results and overall medical background information.
• Diagnoses patients and formulates treatment plans for speech, language, fluency, voice or swallowing impairments.
• Educates patients and family members about the various communication techniques or strategies to cope with the impairment.
• Writes reports and maintains client information for the purposes of evaluation, treatment progress and discharge of client.
• Performs administrative responsibilities, coordinates paperwork, writes lesson plans and schedules case management activities and/or any other appropriate patient information and/or recordkeeping for administrative, billing and caseload purposes.
• Develops individual and/or group activities and/or programs to manage behavior, speech, language or swallowing problems.
• Participates in and writes reports for meetings regarding patients' progress.
• Participates in the planning and implementing of individualized educational planning (IEP) meetings, in-service meetings, or intervention assistance team meetings.
• Instructs clients with techniques for more effective communication, such as sign language, lip reading or voice improvement.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree
• License/Certification: SLPA License, Florida License, Appropriate certifications and/or licensures, background etc.

Skills

• Must possess knowledge regarding the various tests required to perform patient evaluations.
• Must possess knowledge of principles, methods and procedures for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of speech, language, fluency, voice or swallowing impairments.
• Must possess the ability to work with infants, children and adults to understand their problems of speech, language and communication.
• Must possess knowledge of the various games and activities to make the atmosphere conducive for children with speech related problems.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess the ability to perform accurate recordkeeping and administrative functions.
• Bilingual a Plus

Skills: Machine

• Ability to provide and use computers and related software programs.
• Transportation: Provide for own transportation & expenses within the local service area.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
