The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Corporate Headquarters in Milwaukee, WI is the site where the first H-D factory - a wooden shed - was built in 1903 in the backyard of the William C. Davidson family home. Join our team as a Sport Designer AL.
Job Summary
The Sport Apparel Designer is responsible for designing and developing some new products within the assigned category of General Merchandise. In this role, you will initiate and manage the design of some products in close collaboration with the Senior Designer and Design Manager. You will also initiate and manage artwork creation, comp sheets, and research for specific categories and items in close collaboration with the Senior Designer and Design Manager. You will engage in collaboration within the Sport category design team and Design Manager to ensure product concepts are on track and appropriate for the category line plans to ensure the alignment of performance and safety goals within the Sport product line. In this role, motorcycle and apparel market research and knowledge is important to ensure brand-appropriate designs/innovations are included within the collection. In this role, you will also see products through the garment certification process in close collaboration with the Senior Designer and Design Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrates some conceptual and practical knowledge in product design, artwork, competitor research and have basic knowledge of related areas such as technical design and fit
- Works collaboratively within Sport design team and Design Manager to understand collection cohesiveness, and product strategy
- Works collaboratively with the Senior Designer and Design Manager to solve complex problems
- Communicates/presents information and concepts clearly and effectively, including but not limited to difficult and/or sensitive and confidential information
- Builds and maintains effective cross-functional relationships within design, merchandising, product development, tech design, materials, graphics, and other teams

Experience Requirements
- Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Design portfolio is required when applying
- Basic understanding of protective motorcycle gear, rider needs/ride styles, industry competitors, innovations, and CE garment certification process is a plus
- Glove design experience is a plus
- Powersports industry experience preferred but not required
- Ability to apply knowledge of technical apparel design process, flat sketches, trends, knowledge of fits and patternmaking, and how their own area integrates with other cross-functional business partners to drive results
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team Demonstrates ability to see product from design concept to finished product Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe XD, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Outlook proficiencies are a plus
- Domestic and international travel required up to 10%

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
