The Sr. Global IT Director (SGID) is responsible for ensuring that SLS’ business capabilities are optimized and future proofed by applying modern and emerging technology, managing risk, and building security resilience. The role links all IT investments to SLS’ business strategy and business outcomes. In this leadership role, SGID is accountable for the overall SLS IT organization, strategic application and architecture development, and effective and efficient operational support of all IT and OT (operational technology). As the SLS’ IT leader, the SGID collaborates with the Group CIO, SLS’ CFO, COO, CCO and HR Director, and has a dual reporting relationship to the SLS’ CFO and the Group CIO. Significant emphasis will be placed on identifying opportunities and anticipating digital change to ensure SLS maintains a leadership position within an increasingly competitive industry landscape. Therefore, the SGID will be a strategic enabler of the business.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Seek to identify and evaluate internal digital asset capabilities and strengths. Assess external digital opportunities and threats as key inputs to making the best decisions on business strategy, given digital realities.
  • Lead the technical development of the digital business strategy and roadmap that aligns with the SLS organization strategic plans. Provide a single point of coordination and oversight for all digital and IT projects.
  • Ensure that SLS is developing the digital assets and capabilities to thrive in the midterm and long term.
  • Act as a champion and change agent in leading the organizational changes required to create and sustain SLS’ organization digital capabilities.
  • Manage a team of developers, analysts, and technologists in executing the organization’s digital business mission. Work to incubate new enterprise capabilities.
  • Lead the development of IT aspects of the SLS strategy and roadmap and ensure its integration with the broader Group IT and enterprise plans.
  • Ensure cost-effective delivery of IT services without compromising business needs and security.
  • Participate in the assessment of external and internal technology capabilities with a focus on suitability for integration with the existing IT environments.
  • Work toward a balance between growing the agility required to achieve digital business objectives and ensuring the core IT functions are reliable, stable, and efficient.

Experience / Qualification Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • Additional education in business administration is desirable.
  • Approximately 7 - 10 years of experience leading global IT organization(s) with diverse group of developers, architects, business analysts etc.
  • Experience working in highly fluid environments requiring agility to adjust to the shifting needs and priorities of the enterprise and customers.
  • Experience working directly with business units as a collaborator and partner while identifying strategic improvements to create positive business impact and outcomes.
  • Focus on talent to secure and/or develop existing resources skill sets to include application development, architecture, digital, cloud and data.
  • Focus on the customer and vendor, to address experience, insights, and capabilities to streamline operations and enhance customer engagement.
  • Progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, while influencing the adoption of new technologies.

  • Digital mindset with the ability to balance between technology strategy, large-scale change management, and the context of the business operating environment.
  • Deep understanding of the evolving technologies landscape on both the demand side (how people/companies are using technology) and the supply side (emerging technologies).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain concepts and technologies.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to communicate a strategy that inspires and aligns to the business.
  • Success in leveraging both contemporary methods, such as Agile and DevOps, as well as traditional practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a plan that ensures that the right people are in the right roles at the right time, and that employees are highly engaged and satisfied.
  • Strong vendor management skills with the ability to identify and leverage resources internally and externally to the enterprise to enhance capabilities that support business objectives.
