The Team:
The Digital Gaming team’s mission is to expand Mattel’s ever-growing IP catalog in the digital gaming space. This includes outbound IP licensing of our brands to 3rd party game developers/publishers and partnering with other companies for co-development. The team is comprised of individuals from various backgrounds to tackle key challenges such as strategy, operations, slate management, marketing, business development/licensing, UX/UI, and production.
The Opportunity:
The Digital Gaming team is seeking a Senior Business Operations Manager, Digital Gaming, based in Los Angeles, CA, who will help the team drive Mattel’s gaming business forward. We need someone who is driven, smart, hard-working, and willing to do whatever it takes to be successful. This person will serve as the Global Head of Digital Gaming’s right-hand person responsible for the business operations of digital gaming at the company.
This role is a great fit for anyone who loves video games, loves a dynamic working environment, and enjoys working with partners. This role needs to be able to forge internal and external relationships to help expand the business.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Assist in the management of our joint venture Mattel163 for day-to-day operations and process improvement, serving as the primary point of contact for most areas
- Manage all aspects of the P&L (Revenue, SG&A, D&D, and A&P) for the Digital Gaming Team, working with the Head of Business Development, Head of Production & Marketing, and Global Head of Digital Gaming to ensure yearly forecasts are met, and new agreements are included in the forecast
- Work with the finance team on the LRGS forecast in conjunction with other business leaders on the team
- Partner with the BD & Production/Marketing team to build out our slate strategy
- Drive value creation by helping the digital gaming team identify white space in our portfolio
- Work with the Digital Gaming team to handle the operations for the team, including but not limited to non-project-based vendor onboarding, travel budgeting, board meeting preparation, executive updates, and other SG&A expenses.
- Partner with the Global Head of Digital Gaming to ensure we are operating at a high level for years to come
- Coordination with various internal teams, including but not limited to the Global Brand Teams (GBT), Marketing, Legal, and Finance
What We’re Looking For:
- Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
- 10-15 years of gaming experience required
- Pulse on the latest trends in video games
- Deep knowledge & expertise of the video game industry
- Ability to think strategically about potential opportunities for the business
- Deep understanding of free-to-play, play-to-earn/web3, subscription, and premium business models
- Ability to travel and attend various trade shows/conferences globally
The annual base salary range for this position is between $114,400 and $171,000
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
