Job Summary
Senior Operations Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of the Front End, which includes Picking, Weigh Stations, Dump Rooms, and Blending; and shall meet department goals in Safety, Quality, Customer Service, Cost Management, and Personnel Development. Senior Operations Manager will oversee a broad team of Production Supervisors and Hourly Associates, and works closely with other functional leaders, to deliver blended product for finished packaging. This leader will report to the Director of Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages activities of the day to day production of blended powder to ensure smooth, efficient plant operation. Coordinates and Optimizes the Production Schedule for each shift and department as needed to meet production goals and support packaging Compliance to Scheduling (CTS) requirements. Participates in the development of the long range business plan and ensures implementation through the Production Supervisors, Team Leads, and all hourly associates. Prepares reports and records as necessary to document departmental activities and/or provide information to other management personnel.
  • Ensures compliance of the plant’s quality control programs to meet all food safety/quality objectives including process reliability, product quality, product standards, specifications, and consumer complaint reductions.
  • Review efficiencies and improve processes, recommend equipment, materials, and tools. Drives continuous improvement in all aspects of the operation with a focus on safety, food safety, and Lean manufacturing criteria. Manage material flow through the FE Operation processes. Develops meaningful metrics and dashboards, to drive desired department behaviors and results.
  • Evaluate and fulfill staffing requirements of the manufacturing work centers. Provides guidance, support, and coaching assistance as appropriate to all Supervisors and Hourly Associates, and interacts with support functions to maximize the plant’s effectiveness. Monitors the training and development of Production Supervisors to ensure their ability to perform effectively and improve their management skills. Handles evaluations and merit increases for the direct reports. Ensures that disciplinary procedures are handled in a consistent manner according to company policies.
  • Ensure plant personnel practice safe work habits and follow safety rules. Drives safety culture throughout plant, ensure consistent regulatory compliance. Lead investigation into safety concerns. Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.). Implement safety measures for accident prevention through regular departmental safety meetings and working with Supervisors to ensure hourly employee compliance.
  • Writes procedures and SOP’s and is instrumental in the implementation and training of the procedures, both new and existing. Works in partnership with the Training Team to ensure all work Standards are trained on, and follows up with Department’s compliance.
  • Responsible for coordinating the maintenance of equipment through the Maintenance Manager. Manages physical assets’ condition for safety and usefulness. Orders replacement parts and other equipment through management of department budget and capital requests.
  • Partners with Sanitation to ensure cleaning schedule and policies are followed.
Education Requirements
Degree or equivalent experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field

Years Of Experience 5+ years’ experience in food manufacturing preferred
3 – 5 years’ experience in a Leadership role
