Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.
As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
The Sr. Manager, Public Relations role is a great opportunity to be part of a fast-moving, exciting company with the opportunity to build experience across the communications spectrum.
What you'll do:

- Be the main media spokesperson on the ground at the Normal, IL factory.
- Help support the external corporate communications team across a range of projects and initiatives.
- Rivian is a brand with no shortage of stories to tell from a new company in a new industry to sustainability, technology, finance, and a great place to work. We are looking for someone whose finger is on the pulse of the news cycle and is willing to immerse themselves in the world of EV's so they can start to identify media opportunities for the company.
- Understand what makes a compelling pitch and can craft clear narratives that interpret our company effectively for the corporate media.
- Work closely with the internal communications team at Normal to ensure that we have consistent messaging across internal and external audiences.
- Be a part of the Rivian Rapid Response team collaborating with emergency management and site safety initiatives.
- Help determine the appropriate external audiences, communication vehicles and cascading of messaging.
- Support the planning and execution of PR campaigns, events and initiatives.
- Provide regular status report of communication activities and recommend any additional actions that are required for a success of a pitch/project/program.
- Engage your storytelling skills to thread together the broader Rivian narrative, specifically for Normal.
- Manage editorial calendar and content, balancing input from key stakeholders across a range of departments and geographies.
- Build cross-functional relationships with teams at Normal to ensure that you are able to track down answers/responses regarding any proactive or reactive media inquiry.
- This is a significant role for someone who is ambitious with potential career growth in the future.
What you'll need:
- 7+ years of communications experience, ideally in corporate communications and ideally onsite at a factory.
- Experience either in a PR agency or in-house. Ideally your experience has included working in a factory setting and dealing with employee/labor relations.
- Strong team-oriented mindset, able to embrace flexible work across time zones and collaborate to get the work done.
- The capacity to thrive in dynamic environments, while being flexible, collaborative and reliable.
- Experience in project management and event execution, with the ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent writing and editing skills: you are known for crossing T's and dotting I's.
- Ability to consider the bigger picture and possess the willingness to get into the specifics when needed.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
- Ability to travel, when needed, across the country.
- You are a passionate collaborator and love building cross-functional relationships.
