Position Description
Performs audits, investigations, and consulting engagements for Texas Tech University System and all component institutions. Duties include actual participation in all phases of engagements, including planning, fieldwork, review, and reporting. Work is performed under general supervision with some latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Requires extensive interaction with coworkers and clients and strong oral and written communication skills.

Major/Essential Functions
Actual Pay Range: $55 - $65K per year depending on experience, certifications etc.
  • Efficiently review the documentation of the client environment and apply knowledge throughout audit engagements.
  • Understand risks and objectives when approaching audit steps. Proactively seek to understand and independently perform project procedures.
  • Exhibit the ability to conduct interviews, document results, and draw conclusions in a professional, comprehensive, clear and concise manner.
  • Exhibit the ability to independently produce work papers (including narrative documents, detailed analyses, tables, and other documents) that are clear, concise, and organized in a logical way and fully support conclusions.
  • Exhibit an awareness of time budgets and deadlines and make every effort to complete assigned audit steps timely and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate growth in understanding audit procedures, controls, standards, and best practices in internal auditing.
  • Proactively communicate to ensure the audit team stays abreast of audit issues and progress related to assigned areas.
  • Exhibit the ability to build effective client relationships and communicate with clients regarding the audit process and results in a professional, comprehensive, clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrate sound professional judgment, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making skills to recognize problems and propose solutions to address the issues.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to cooperate and work with others and contribute proportionately to team efforts.
  • Contribute to continuous departmental improvement, including critiquing audit processes and procedures, in order to conduct future audits more effectively and efficiently.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, public administration or related field with one year of related experience. Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to carry a laptop, work extended hours, and travel.
  • The integrity to maintain confidentiality.
