UChicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital located in Hyde Park, is a state-of-the-art 172-bed hospital dedicated to caring for infants, children, teens and young adults. Offering a range of services from general care to groundbreaking treatments for the most complex medical conditions, Comer Children's is home to the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center on Chicago's South Side.
Through the Emergency Department, our nurses in the Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine care for acutely ill or injured children and teens. Our emergency department, the only Level 1 Trauma Center on the South Side of Chicago, treats more than 35,000 patients each year, including hundreds with complex trauma injuries. Fully equipped air medical transport is also available for critically injured patients in surrounding areas.
Job Summary:
A Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing
- Associate Degree in Nursing or higher
- Current Illinois RN license
- Current BLS Certification
- Ability to effectively communicate
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric ED or PICU experience preferred
