Full Job Description- Staff Physician- Substance Use Treatment, Medical Doctor

Salary: 170,000-250,000 depending on experience

Setting: Nationally known and recognized facility for the treatment of substance use disorders. Located on a beautiful resort-like campus in Jacksonville, this program attracts clients from all over the country seeking residential support in their recovery.

Daily life: Day schedule in person M-F, 9-5. Completes History and Physical evaluations. Obtains and documents clients medical histories. Continued assessment of clients for signs and symptoms of withdrawal and /or psychiatric issues and will accurately document these assessments. Follow up, as needed, for additional medical treatment due to increase in signs and symptoms. Collaborate with clients' treatment team including: Nursing, Clinical, and Program Directors. Supervise APRN’s and PA’s.

Requirements:

  • A Doctorate from an accredited program in a medical profession. Must be licensed in the state of Florida with active DEA license.
  • Board certified in a primary care specialty strongly preferred.
  • Minimum three to five years of experience. **Experience in behavioral health and chemical dependency preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations relating to substance abuse programs and knowledge of JCAHO and DCF accreditation processes and requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Completes History and Physicals and/or evaluations as credentialed by the Board of Directors and under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer in a complete and timely manner and indicates potential problems.
  • Obtains and documents patients medical histories. As credentialed, will assess patients for signs and symptoms of withdrawal and /or psychiatric issues and will accurately document these assessments.
  • Follow up, as needed, for additional medical treatment due to increase in signs and symptoms.
  • Interprets subjective and objective data to formulate a diagnosis. Interprets laboratory and diagnostic test results. Formulates diagnoses and treats illnesses within scope of practice.
  • Formulates patient treatment plans within the scope of practice.
  • Orders and prescribes drugs and medical devices within scope of practice.
  • Writes progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • Responsible for meeting standards and guidelines recommended by JCAHO and other regulatory and payer groups.
  • Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments. Work in conjunction with the Nursing, Clinical, and Program Directors and maintain a good working relationship. Participates in ongoing performance improvement activities.
  • Supervises ARNP’s and PA’s, providing guidance and expertise. Serves as a role model for medical and clinical staff. Participates in staff development and training.
  • Review all laboratory and radiology examinations as appropriate and ensure that Nursing and Medical Departments follow policy and procedure.
  • Complete any other clinical or medical duty as directed by the Chief Medical Officer.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $170,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
