We’re looking for a Stress Analyst to take flight with us. This will be a hybrid role located near the Patuxent River area in Maryland.
Stress Analyst
The Stress Analyst is responsible for performing detailed stress analysis of primary and secondary components, by classical hand analysis as well as Finite Element methods, in order to support the structural design efforts of new and modified components from the conceptual phase to development and certification. This role will plan, organize and prioritize work contents based on project deliverables. This is a hybrid role out of our Patuxent River, MD satellite office.
Essential Job Functions
- Create detailed finite structural element models in the process of structural integrity verification
- Generate stress substantiation reports.
- Develop or review structural qualification plans in accordance with 14 CFR FAA standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with design engineers, team lead, suppliers, and technical management personnel to assure that the design meets or exceeds the project deliverables and complies with the regulatory requirements.
- Participate in regularly scheduled design reviews and is responsible to present stress findings and challenge design solutions.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years progressive related aerospace engineering experience in the fatigue and structural stress analysis discipline
- Basic knowledge of aircraft structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes
- Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, analyze data, summarize findings, develop conclusions, and recommendations from appropriate data sources
- Skill and ability to interface constructively and effectively in a cross functional team environment
- Skill and ability to work on complex technical problems and provide solutions in an independent manner
- Proficient in standard (classical) hand calculation methods
- Experience in static (FE and free-body)
- Experience in finding compliance to FAA/EASA Aircraft regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in classical stress (static) analysis methods and FEM based analysis tools (i.e. Patran, Nastran, Hypermesh)
- Proficiency in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) analysis methods and tools (i.e Nasgro)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- In-depth knowledge of structural sizing methodologies
- In-depth knowledge of Engineering Mechanics and Strength of Materials.

Education
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university required.
Master's preferred.
