Our company is a full service, multi-disciplined engineering organization offering engineering/design, procurement, construction, construction management, EPCM and EPC services for the chemical, petrochemical, polymer, power generation/distribution, industrial and manufacturing industries.
What You Will Be Doing
The Senior Civil/Structural Designer applies advanced drafting principles with minimal supervision through the collection and analysis of data obtained from the field or from Project information and initiates a wide degree of creativity and latitude to develop innovative solutions and designs for the benefit of our clients. Familiarity with one or more of the following industrial service areas is preferred: Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Polymers, Utility, Energy, and Manufacturing. This individual is expected to fulfill the requirements of the position and understands that occasional travel to clients facilities, both locally and out of state, may be expected for client meetings and to obtain data from field observations and measurements. Prepares independent, complex design layouts in compliance with engineering design and applicable code requirements.
Reviews designs of others to assure compliance with engineering requirements and consider project constructability, completeness and presentation.
Provides guidance to less experienced designers.
Act as lead designer on designated projects, being a technical resource for the project team and directing and checking work of other civil/structural designers assigned to the project.

What You Need for this Position
- Vocational or 2-year Associate Degree in Drafting, or equivalent level of experience.
- Twelve (12) to Twenty-five (25) years or more of experience in the layout and drafting of civil/structural plans and details.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design and layout of foundations, structural steel, concrete and masonry structures.
- Ability to develop complex design layouts that consider and incorporate requirements from other engineering disciplines to create a coordinated, unified design.
- Familiarity of advanced drafting concepts, practices, and procedures within civil/structural field.
- Prepares independent, complex design layouts in compliance with engineering design and applicable code requirements.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Revit. Familiar with point clouds, PointSense, Kubit or other 3D scan-processing software. Imports and exports 3D models to and from AutoCAD Revit.
- Optional experience: basic surveying for determination of project elevations and control points using level and/or total station equipment; familiarity with Carlson Civil/Survey, Autodesk Civil 3D or similar surveying software, or willingness to learn; developing site layouts, grading, underground utility layouts.
