Full time, Onsite Auburn Hills

In this role, you are responsible for all program operations in relation to the assigned team, providing staffing and service levels at or above minimum operating standards within budget. Additionally, you are responsible for training, mentoring, providing support, and motivating the team. You will also be required to oversee the planning and execution of successful meeting programs while maintaining a high level of customer service to program participants and the client. This position is a “working” position in that the Supervisor’s main tasks will center on managing the team, but you will also provide managerial support on larger meetings, as well as plan programs as your workload and time permits.

As a Supervisor Meeting & Events, you will

  • Work in partnership with the Operations Manager on day-to-day operational tasks and deliverables
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Program Managers and support staff ensuring consistent delivery of a standard of excellence; providing onboarding and continuous training to the team, keeping training materials/decks updated
  • Participate in the recruitment process for Operational positions as needed
  • Manage direct reports: departmental vacation/attendance/lieu schedules, submit payroll, submit monthly reports, conduct annual performance reviews, manage performance issues, and conduct disciplinary actions
  • Counsel and support team through programs, problem resolution, concerns, issues, and general meeting planning process
  • Lead team meetings
  • Oversee management and delivery of programs
  • Recommend strategies and methods to increase the effectiveness
  • Provide regular status updates to the Client regarding all programs
  • Ensure the team adheres to Client policy, procedures, and deadlines
  • Support Operations Manager in tracking/measuring service levels and customer satisfaction
  • Plan meetings as needed, including budgeting, logistics, and reconciliation

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree /CMP certification
  • Experienced in supervisory or team lead experience
  • Experience in the development and delivery of training
  • Extensive years of experience in coordinating and/or planning meetings, events, and incentive programs
  • Experience in client management and managing outside vendors, sourcing and negotiating contract services
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Firsthand experience in domestic and international group travel
  • Knowledge of group travel operations and industry
  • Ability to manage strong clients and growing operations
  • Effective organizational and time management skills and follow-through on goals, plans, and projects

The salary range for candidates in applicable jurisdictions in the US for the position of Supervisor Meeting & Events is between $78 000 and $85 000. The actual pay depends on your skills, qualifications, experience and geographical location.
