Supervisor- Power Job at Graphic Packaging International, Inc.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Responsible for direct supervision of production crew utilizing competencies of successful first line leader (see competencies below).
- Facilitate the execution of individual development plans working closely with Operators, Assistant Supervisors and Learning Leaders
- Work with and through your crew to reduce our impact on the community, reduce risk to our people and a profitable operation of the power and recovery department.
- Personally accountable for the crews performance. Your crew
- Responsible for safe work environment, including conducting daily safety meetings, observations and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- Encourages and motivates crew members to complete on-shift safe behavior observations.
- Provide documentation/record keeping for training and qualifications.
- Assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions.
- Responsible for meeting and exceeding established production and quality goals.
- Audit work systems to ensure consistent operation (rounds, logs, check sheets, inspection procedures, TCC’s etc.)
- Increase crew engagement.
- Direct maintenance tasks to be completed on shift.
- Effective communication and production planning between departments.
- Annual outage support and routine outage support.
- Conducting one-to-ones with direct reports.
SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
- Schedule is based on rotating 12 – hour crew shift schedule, which includes; nights, days, weekends and holidays. Employee must be willing to work rotating shift schedule.
Required Skills
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 3 - 5 years’ supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in a power and recovery operation
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- High School diploma or GED is required
- A BS degree in; chemical or mechanical engineering preferred, equivalent power and recovery experience will also be considered

Required Experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
- Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
- Lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
- Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (hard hat, earplugs, steel-toed boots, safety glasses at a minimum)
- Ability to operate or work in industrial conditions - may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)
- Frequent walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and climbing.
- Ability to move wrists, hands, and/or fingers to turn valves and make adjustments to equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
