POSITION SUMMARY
The Services to Afghans Survivors Impacted by Combat (SASIC) Grant Support Specialist–This position is responsible for service delivery to Afghan combat survivors qualifying under the SASIC grant. This position plays a critical role working with individuals in connecting them with community resources and supports in order to meet wellness plan goals.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works collaboratively with clients to update the wellness plan, as needed to reflect current goals and objectives
- Provides trauma-informed peer support services
- Provide direct assistance to clients based on program and client goal plans, and providing follow up services as needed
- Make appropriate and meaningful referrals
- Participates in providing and/or coordinating cultural orientation to clients
- Conducts outreach to refugee and immigrant communities
- Explain application procedures to individuals and/or assist participants to complete forms
- Connect clients to employment programs, basic needs resources, and ongoing communitysupports
- Connect survivors to ethnic and faith-based organizations
- Connect clients to leadership opportunities, such as leading survivor-focused initiatives
- Provide ongoing cultural support to program participants
- Co-facilitate support groups, and arts and culture activity groups
- Work closely with JFCS colleagues to ensure that clients are integrated into the broader array of services available in the organization
- Provide translation and interpretation support for clients, as needed
- Maintain positive relationships with community partners relevant to program activities
- Submit regular reports to track client outcomes, fulfill reporting requirements, and capture client success stories
- Participate in network and community meetings related to program
- Provides client advocacy and assistance when needed.
- Adheres to agency protocols, legal and contract requirements, and professional standards.
- Completes and maintains thorough entries in the clients’ electronic health record.
- Maintains case records according to agency protocols and contract requirements.
- Receives one hour of individual supervision by SASIC Case Manager on a biweekly basis
- Assist in emergencies as they arise
- Other duties as assigned
WORK HOURS, SCHEDULE & FLEXIBILITY
There may be evening and weekends that will require your attendance in order to best represent the Agency. Some flexibility in scheduling is required.

- Must be able to handle all facets of the business both standard and non-standardsituations
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-language environment and able to work through translation services if not fluent in a second language
- Must be able to work in a team approach and value collaborative partnerships with familiesand professionals equally
- Must be willing to accept feedback, and respond in professional manner
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in refugee resettlement work preferred
- Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
- Strong motivational and teaching skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically in a multi-culturalsetting and with limited-English proficiency speakers
- Ability to communicate effectively through a third-party interpreter
- International work or study experience and second language abilities a plus

Pay: From $41,000.00 per year
