Job Summary

This role partners with the surgeon throughout the surgical procedure handling and passing instruments to them and assisting with the steps of the procedure. The qualities we are looking for in a Surgical Technologist is someone who is organized, has strong communication skills, high attention to detail, and able to perform in emergency situations. The Surgical Technologist will be able to use state of the art equipment and instrumentation while working on surgical cases that include general, orthopedic, cardiovascular, neuro, ENT, plastics, OB/GYN, urology, and podiatry. Work in a team setting in state-of-the-art facilities where your work makes a true and lasting difference in someone s life.
Responsibilities
Qualifications
Graduate of an approved school of surgical technology or graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required.
Experience in an operating room setting is preferred. Must have a good knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical and surgical terminology, instrumentation, aseptic techniques, and surgical procedures acquired through post-secondary training.
National certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within first 60 days of employment into position.
Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Responsibilities
- Assist with assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, or documenting the care of patients
- Ensuring that the operating room environment is safe
- Demonstrate knowledge in the theory and application of the principle of asepsis and sterile technique
- Ensuring that equipment functions properly
- Accurately accounting for items used during a procedure
- Prepares and maintains an organized sterile field
- Knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation and tools and technologies
Qualifications
