We are building a world class global procurement function focused around; (1) Category Management focused on driving long term sustainable value for the business (2) Procurement Operations providing exceptional support and advisement to our business unit stakeholders and (3) Data Analytics, process excellence, and technology adoption to drive and enable procurement best practices, contract effectiveness and excellent end-user experience and (4) Sustainable Procurement practices to aid the enterprise in reaching our public sustainability commitments.
The Opportunity:
The Sustainable Procurement Manager will work closely with the category managers, compliance team, the business, the sites and our suppliers to develop and implement sustainable procurement strategy aligned with the overall business strategies.
Reporting to the Lead – Sustainable & Operational Procurement, the Sustainable Procurement Manager will be focused on cultivating relationships, understanding business goals, and helping to execute category strategies in line with the Albemarle sustainability objectives. The role is responsible to define and implement the sustainable procurement processes, in particular responsible minerals sourcing in line with corporate and business compliance teams. Additionally, the sustainable procurement manager is responsible for the procurement aspect of certifications and internal audits.
Additional responsibilities and impact:

Manage Sustainable procurement strategy.

Act as an internal and external ESG procurement ambassador: raise teams' awareness of the importance of the company's ESG policies and its challenges, keep procurement team informed about sustainable procurement highlights, KPI’s and results, keep in contact with suppliers on sustainable topic.

Implement sustainable procurement best practices in line with the Albemarle sustainability program, with support of Category Managers.

Identify, measure, and monitor sustainable procurement KPI’s under the sustainable policy.

Market intelligence: keep track of sustainability highlights and best practices in global raw materials/metals markets.

Keep track of recycling projects with plants and suppliers and all sustainable projects.

Scope-3 with Suppliers and Scope-1 and 2 with plants: conduct suppliers surveys and audits.

Cost optimization: support Category Managers by strengthening the sustainable overall value chain (new cost models…).

Responsible sourcing/ Compliance with suppliers: coordination between suppliers – Category Managers – ALB Compliance.

Integrate Sustainable Procurement in new supplier selection process in close collaboration with Category managers.

ISO 9001 certification: manage ALL procurement related topics for internal and external audits @ plants with support of Analyst / Supplier Administrator for KPI’s.

Organize and lead Quality Procurement / Logistics meeting with Category Managers: Q/Ns review, intermediate suppliers’ evaluations, dashboard with KPI’s, highlights regarding quality and sustainability within Procurement and Logistics, actions to escalate to our suppliers for continuous improvements…

Refine existing processes and practices, or establish new ones, to enable Albemarle -via Procurement – to better partner with suppliers and enhance diverse content in our various supply chains.

Facilitate continual alignment of supply chain Diversity and Inclusion strategy related and necessarily interconnected strategies developed and executed in HR, Corporate Relations/Community Investment, Sustainability and any other relevant internal stakeholder groups
What We’re Looking For:

5 years + of leadership and strategic sourcing/category management and procurement.

2+ years experience with ISO quality standards.

Strong leadership capability, demonstrating ability to develop and deploy strategy through detailed action plans

Strongly understand the S2P (Source to Pay) process

Strong decision-making abilities and business acumen

Interpersonal skills and ability to partner with stakeholders and multiple functional groups on projects/programs

Proven ability to navigate ambiguity

Negotiation and conflict management skills

Effective oral and written communications

Extensive knowledge with Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI and other advanced analytical tools;

Familiarity with sourcing events and savings methodologies preferred.

Experience in Procurement spend data management and sourcing/contracting tools a plus

Lean and Change Management experience
Language Skills

English – Proficient to conduct external and internal business

Other languages such as Spanish and Traditional Chinese are a plus
