PVM is seeking a System Administrator to maintain and optimize server software systems for PVM’s local government client. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide mission-critical support for this client by providing system maintenance, troubleshooting issues, data quality management, and assisting with technical projects. This is a hybrid role based in Richmond, Virginia, with occasional travel required. This position will be part of a team that assists in providing 24 hour support.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain all server software systems, as well as manage server performance optimization and availability
- Maintain all system backups and aid in the restoration of all operations
- Gather necessary information and respond to customer inquiries over email/through ticket-based software support desk systems, maintain an ideal level of customer service
- Reproduce and diagnose issues reported by clients and build a process to streamline future troubleshooting
- Become an expert of relevant data sources for a given client and respond to questions about data quality or help users obtain data in the Palantir platform
- Troubleshoot workflows and data pipelines, including monitoring pipeline health, debugging pipeline failures, and making ad hoc changes to pipeline code to support user requests
- Identify trends in support issues and work with Palantir engineering teams to resolve problem root causes
- Work closely with Engineers on the team to support our production footprint and troubleshoot issues
- Reverse engineer existing code in effort to update and improve software reliability. This requires strong java development skills.
- Assist with technical projects, including scoping work, interfacing with other teams, and collaborating with other engineers
- Test all new software, maintain patches for management services, and conduct audits on all security procedures
Requirements:
- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- 3+ years of experience with Java
- Ability to provide proof of US Citizenship and pass a background check.
Education:
- BS/BA or equivalent experience
Preferred:
- Experience with Palantir Gotham or Palantir Foundry
- Palantir-provided FSR Training
Tools:
- Experience writing production data pipelines in at least one of the following coding languages: Java, Go, Groovy, Shell, Ruby, PostgreSQL
- Experience with Linux, AWS, Puppet, Ansible, Nagios
- Understanding and experience using Spring, Hadoop, ElasticSearch
- Ability to build and support with Jira, Confluence, Git, Stash, Gradle, Jenkins, Rundeck
Skills:
- Strong communication skills with an ability to explain and demonstrate complex concepts in an easily understood manner
- Flexible and can operate within diverse environments with varying organizational cultures
- Strong experience and skills with troubleshooting
Salary: $62,000- $95,000
