Doing what is right for the Warfighter is reflected in everything we do. We have an opportunity for a Systems Engineer, ASW to support our PMA-264, Air ASW Systems team at NAS Patuxent River, MD.
As the Systems Engineer, you will support the Key Enablers and Sonobuoy Enhancements (KESE) Lead Engineer with the integration of communications improvements, digital telemetry, and encryption into the PMA-264 family of sonobuoys e.g., Acoustic communications (ACOMMS) and Automated Extended Life Sonobuoy (AELS). You will also support ACOMMS integration into the P-8A platform to allow P-8A dynamic (two-way) communication with a submerged submarine. The KESE systems engineer will also mature the AELS prototype technologies that will be demonstrated in real-world environments.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Supporting the KESE Lead Engineer in managing the engineering requirements associated with multiple, diverse Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) systems
- Maintaining a positive engineering relationship with the PMA-264 Class Desk
- Providing technical inputs in the creation and review of all engineering documents (SOW, CDRL, technical proposals, technical maturity, etc.) for accuracy and compliance with requirements
- Assisting in the development of Systems Specifications and document preparation to support the Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) processes and the requirements analysis
- Participating in working groups using engineering knowledge and expertise to generate recommendations and/or plans of action to resolve issues
- Participating in the KESE Risk management process
- Evaluating and/or guiding Engineering Change Proposals (ECP)
- Participating in weekly programmatic and technical meetings
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required
- Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Demonstrated knowledge in the following areas is a must: NAVAIR Systems engineering process; Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) processes; ECP Process; Systems Specification development; NAVAIR Configuration control process; principles of Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW)
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proactive personality with the ability to work with limited guidance and supervision
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills, adept at managing competing priorities and initiating projects
- Occasional travel may be required

- This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance.
