Reports To: Building Principal or his/her designee

Summary: Assesses student needs; plans for, guides, and evaluates student learning; and communicates student progress to pupils and parents by performing the following duties.

• Education and/or Experience: Valid Indiana teaching license for the teaching assignment.
• Other Skills and Abilities: Must have a working knowledge of computers and their capabilities. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and current educational practices. Utilize varied instructional strategies and activities.

• Establish, communicate and encourage high standards of student performance.
• Monitor, assess, and provide appropriate feedback of student performance and progress.
• Keep attendance reports.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Perform non-instructional duties affecting the school program. Implement school policy and pertinent law.
• Participate in professional development activities. Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
• Prepare teaching outline for course of student, assign lessons, and correct homework papers.
• Administer tests to evaluate pupil’s progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
• Maintain discipline in the classroom, school building and school grounds.
• Perform related duties, such as sponsoring one or more special activities or student organizations, assisting pupils in selecting course of study, and counseling them in adjustment and academic problems.
• The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation.
• Other related duties as may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor.
