JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting in the educational developmentally appropriate activities in the classroom.

CHILDREN SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for child supervision and for keeping children safe.

Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• 
  Assist the teacher in planning, implementing, and evaluating the operations of the classroom and educational-related activities.
• Provides appropriate staff-child interactions and also supports the social, emotional, physical, and developmental needs of each child.
• Active participation in educational opportunities for professional growth, including meetings, training, conferences, and meetings.
• Work cooperatively with all staff in meeting Head Start Performance Standards and other compliance mandates.
• Assist in coordinating parent activities and events.
• Attend parent and staff conferences as required.
• Ability to respond appropriately to an emergency or crisis situation.
• Physical ability to monitor and respond quickly to children who are very active and may need redirection in order to ensure their safety or the safety of others.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

• 
  Must have a High School Diploma and at least six months as a classroom volunteer or substitute in an early child care setting.
• Good organizational skills are required.
• Good oral and written communication skills are required.
• Bi-lingual is helpful but not required.
