Brown and Caldwell is a national environmental engineering and consulting firm with a rich marketing culture. We are looking to expand our talented Marketing team with a full time Content Marketing Manager.

As a Content Marketing Manager, you will be critical in shaping how BC’s Technical Services engages and reaches our key internal and external audiences in the water industry. You will help plan and develop compelling content around B2B environmental services and niche technology offerings and solutions, taking technical and complex concepts and turning it into clear and engaging narratives.

This position can be fully remote from any location near a BC office.

Detailed Description:

As a Content Marketing Manager, you will be critical in shaping how BC’s Technical Services engages and reaches our key internal and external audiences in the water industry. This role will help plan and develop compelling content around B2B environmental services and niche technology offerings and solutions, taking technical and complex concepts and turning it into clear and engaging narratives. This individual must be familiar with leading and developing marketing strategies and plans, maintaining brands, and writing original copy for collateral across multiple marketing and communications channels.

The role will lead BC’s Technical Services marketing and communications mix, requiring a creative and methodical approach. To be successful, you will work with business partners in a fast-paced, virtual setting to elevate BC’s technical and innovative services and solutions to meet business goals and client needs. This role will help plan and develop content supporting each part of the sales funnel, such as project descriptions, intranet communications, website landing pages, thought leadership blogs, social media marketing, email marketing copy, award submittals, sales presentations, event experiences, and proposal assets.

The Content Marketing Manager will work closely with BC’s Technical Services Leadership Team, Technical Practice Leaders, National Technology and Innovation Leaders and partner with Marketing Services and Corporate Communications. Beyond a background in content marketing, the right candidate will be strategic, flexible, collaborative, forward-thinking, self-directed, and have a desire to grow and learn along the way.

What you bring:

  • Degree in marketing and/or communications, with at least 6 years of experience in related role.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in leading and developing integrated content marketing strategies, with B2B experience preferred.
  • Experience and success in productively managing partners and relationships throughout a project.
  • Excellent writing, editing and grammar skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to keep track of multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience working in a team environment and collaborating with various levels of stakeholders, including executives.
  • Experience in creating content that supports and enables client service teams e.g., project descriptions, sales presentations, technology and innovation briefs.
  • Ability to develop customized content from scratch, as well as repurpose existing content and source relevant third-party content to share with audiences.
  • Experience interviewing subject matter experts and distilling complex topics into consumable stories and experiences.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to inform internal stakeholders on project milestones or garner input or buy-in on a project.
  • Proficient knowledge of content creation platforms, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, or equivalent platforms.

Day-to-day activities:

  • Write creative copy for multiple media and formats that piques audience interest and drives action.
  • Lead strategy-led content marketing plans for internal and external audiences, with service and solution messaging that differentiates BC’s technical services, innovative approaches, and technology offerings.
  • Partner with technical experts for content generation from start to finish and communicate regularly with internal project teams to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Partner with graphic designers to develop scalable, compelling visuals for branding efforts.
  • Own creative review process and provide feedback while ensuring cross-divisional stakeholders are brought in when relevant.
  • Proactively take the lead to review and finalize content assets for accuracy and consistency in addressing audience and business needs.
  • Analyze and compile content performance and provide recommendations for improvements to processes, medium, formats, and messaging on an ongoing basis.
  • Get plugged into and collaborate within cross-functional teams to support developing technical services specific content for regional marketing proposals, business development efforts, and corporate initiatives.
  • Develop relationships across Technical Services to discover what’s going on within each service to feed key project milestones, events, activities, research, and discussions into our content pipeline.
  • Partner with legal, corporate communications, and subject matter experts to ensure that the storytelling is approved and on brand.
  • Act as a primary liaison to relevant Corporate Communications, Marketing Services, and client service teams to provide key Technical Services content.
  • Develop and guide implementation of Technical Services enablement materials and tools to support BC’s business units in meeting their sales and revenue goals.
  • Stay apprised and knowledgeable of foundational positioning, such as audience segments, competitive analysis, market differentiators, and support development of this material to inform Technical Services content campaigns when none exists.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, business administration, or related field required with at least 6 years of experience in related role.
  • Experience within water environmental engineering or other highly technical consulting field
  • Must have the willingness and ability to travel (up to 20% of time)
  • Ability to conceptualize and write narratives as well as direct graphic designers for publications, marketing collateral, presentations, and other branding and communications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with emphasis on superior persuasive writing/editing
  • Highly self-motivated and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Interest and comfort with technical subjects
  • Ability to dive into and understand high level of technical concepts to make connections and harness synergies
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients at all levels of the organization
  • Experienced in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Adobe InDesign

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

  • Location A: $29.30 - $40.20
  • Location B: $32.20 - $44.20
  • Location C: $35.10 - $48.20
