Position Summary:
We are seeking an Assistant Manager with demonstrated track record of sales leadership, customer service, team building, communications and retail experience. These skills, plus creative and innovative merchandising and marketing ideas are even better!
Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager’s duties are similar to those of the manager in that the assistant manager is responsible for working with the manager to supervise the day-to-day operations of the store and support the strategy and development of all aspects. The assistant manager is expected to “back up” the manager and do whatever is necessary to aid the manager in achieving the goals of the store.

Employee Management:
Aid GM in recruiting, training, and supervising new staff- hiring, firing, developing, conducting quarterly evaluations
Direct staff in daily work assignments to maximize productivity
Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and assist in monthly staff meetings to ensure organizational efficiency
Facilities/Corporate
Responsibilities:
You will be ‘on the floor’ for most hours, acting as the head lead
Implement and maintain clean organization
Be capable of cultivating strong multi-tasking abilities
Display inventiveness in introducing new ideas that would increase business (sales or productivity)
Track material and supply inventory and place orders
Aid GM in scheduling, managing, and training employees
Maintain facility in order to receive 98%+ on health department inspections
Continually monitor The Spice & Tea Exchange and take appropriate action to ensure product quality and service standards are consistently met
Ensure facility and equipment are maintained to company standards
Attract and maintain exceptional relationships with wholesale partners
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the Tea Industry
Explore opportunities to add additional value to The Spice & Tea Exchange Management and schedule community events
Adhere to company standards, including personal hygiene and appearance
Adhere to health and safety standards when handling food

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of 2-5 years experience in retail environment. Specialty food and/or gift shop a plus but not required.
Minimum 1- 3 years demonstrated retail operations management (manager or assistant manager): sales, people, product, and point of sale systems.
Open availability of 30 to 40 Hours/week, including nights and weekends
Strong selling experience required with the proven ability to meet or exceed performance standards.
Interest, affinity for culinary arts, fine cuisine, nutrition, wellness, spices and teas (You don’t have to be a great cook, but need to be excited about our products).
Strong organizational skills to manage a fast paced environment with many moving parts
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required.
Proven experience in attracting, developing and retaining strong talent.
Strong work ethic and personal integrity/honesty
Excellent team building and leadership skills; we are looking for a seasoned people-oriented manager
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel
ATTENTION TO DETAIL A MUST! We blend, package and label most of our products.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand and walk about the store 95% of the time to assist guests with their shopping experience.
Ability to effectively maneuver around sales floor and stockroom, repetitive bending, prolong standing, twisting, stooping, squatting, ascending/descending, reaching, and lifting to stock and merchandise store frequently lifting up to 50 pounds.
Constantly exposed to spice and herb odors.
