TEACHER/LIBRARIAN COMPENSATION :
In accordance with House Bill 3, the ranges above include additional compensation for classroom teachers with more than five (5) years of experience.
All salary ranges are adopted annually by the Board of Trustees. The District ensures salary placement for new hires will be based on verified years of experience according to the Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service . These ranges should not be used to project salary amounts for subsequent years.
In addition, teachers and librarians may qualify for the following stipends:
Advanced Degree Stipends
Performance and Other Supplemental Stipends
Bilingual & ESL Stipends

EDUCATION :
Bachelors Degree
Three years classroom teaching experience/related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Spanish Fluency required

CERTIFICATION :
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate by the State Board for Educator Certification

High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Responsible for improving student achievement by providing remediation and acceleration to meet the needs of individual students across various grade levels (PK-5) in core subject areas. Responsible for creating a classroom environment that enhances and supports first time core instruction in math, science, literacy to support personal growth of every student; establish effective rapport with students; provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to become a responsible citizen and function successfully in society.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaches students who have been identified as needing support in Reading, Math, Writing, or Science.
2. Plans and delivers lessons that address student needs of first time core instruction in literacy, math and or science.
3. Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
4. Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
5. Creates classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
6. Monitors student achievement in reading, writing, math, and science by reviewing and analyzing student/campus assessment results/trends, and using the data to reteach and/or enhance students learning.
7. Utilizes campus data to help teachers determine appropriate services and support for students in need of additional core instructional support in class or to provide specific instructional intervention.
8. Works collaboratively with administration, teachers, district specialists, and other campus staff, to promote and facilitate the use of best practices of instructional strategies.
9. Collaborate with teams of teachers to support lesson planning and to facilitate the use of student work and performance data to make informed instructional decisions.
10. Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills.
11. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
12. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities which support federal programs and at risk students
13. Support and participate in before and after school tutoring and interventions.
14. Establish and maintain openness of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers.
15. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
16. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
17. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board Policies and Administrative Regulations.
18. Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
19. Successfully complete all professional development training within established timelines as required by the Texas Education Agency and the District.
20. Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
21. Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other required documents.
22. Maintain confidentiality of information.
23. Reports to work every day.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge of Building Blocks and Four Blocks Framework and TEKS
  • Knowledge of Current Math Framework and TEKS
  • Knowledge of Science instructional framework and TEKS
  • Knowledge of technology instructional framework
  • Familiarity with current instructional intervention program
  • Familiarity with current literacy, math, and science coaching techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
  • Strong organizational, effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively present information to staff, administration, public groups
  • Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
