Overview
The Batch Compounder will work under the guidance of the Crew Leader to produce materials in a batch processing environment. This includes following procedures and instructions to meet specifications and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Ensure products are produced on schedule and meet quality standards
- Follow production schedule to complete daily production requirements
- Perform pre-operational, in-process, and post-batch inspections to maintain equipment
- Locate and verify raw materials and supplies for batch ticket requirements
- Follow batch ticket instructions and quality control procedures to produce quality products
- Document raw material usage and any discrepancies on the batch ticket
- Prepare and deliver batch samples to Quality Control Laboratory
- Package totes, drums, and pails according to packaging ticket instructions
- Control reintroduction or remix material per Quality Control batch ticket instructions
Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, facility, and equipment
- Cap or plug hose and plumbing fittings when not in use
- Properly store operating supplies such as raw materials, drums, and totes
- Remove empty raw material containers, packages, bags, and sacks
- Clean equipment of raw material residue, chemicals, and adhesive
- Sweep and mop work areas as needed and at the end of each shift
- Return cleaning equipment to assigned area after each use
Safety
- Follow safety rules, guidelines, and practices as defined in the Employee Safety Handbook and Company policy
- Maintain respirator certification through required physicals and fit tests
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in physical inventories and cycle counting
- Assist with maintenance as needed
- Perform shipping duties as needed
- Contribute to team effort
- Train designated employees on compounding procedures as needed
- Participate in safety, loss control, accident, incident, and rework investigations
Requirements
Education/Experience
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Related field experience
- Forklift experience preferred
- Valid state driver's license with good driving record
Skills
- Mechanical aptitude and analytical ability
- Clear communication skills in English
- Perform tasks with minimal supervision
- Perform basic math skills
- Follow assigned tasks and directions
- Physical Conditions
- Perform physical work such as bending, stooping, and lifting
- Lift and carry materials and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more
- Operate tools, machinery, and forklifts with manual dexterity
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing plant with varying temperatures and noise levels. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Supervision Received
The Batch Compounder works under the Crew Leader or Production Manager and collaborates with various personnel such as Quality Control Technicians, Research and Development Chemists/Technicians, Technical Director, Production Scheduler, Maintenance personnel, Materials Manager, Plant Manager, Operations Manager, and other management as applicable.
Salary info:
$21 - $25 / hr
