ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT


Mt. Evans Outdoor Lab is located in Evergreen, Colorado at the base of the Mt. Evans mountain range. The current school site sits on 525 acres and was originally built by the Clarence Dodge family of Colorado Springs. Jefferson County Public Schools purchased the property in 1957 and since then every sixth grade student has engaged in a week-long, residential, environmental and civic education experience. It provides opportunities for hands-on, experiential learning in an outdoor setting that fosters opportunities for student growth in an array of subjects.

Min-Mid Annual Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $66,989.54 Effective as of: 08-16-2022


**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.

RESPONSIBILITIES


SUMMARY: Support and promote effective instructional practices in specific content areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

Instruction and Mentoring:

Responsible for recruitment, supervision, training, management, and evaluation of Outdoor Lab School interns.

Responsible for training, supervision, and management of High School Leaders, who are mentored by you and the interns that you train.

Communicate and collaborate effectively with the Outdoor Lab School Principals, Program Coordinator, Program Specialists, visiting school staff, parents, community members, and all other Outdoor Lab stakeholders.

Ability to train/teach all core content classes.

Help high school interns to manage grades and graduation.

Management:

Direct and organize daily operations of Outdoor Lab, including developing a weekly schedule for visiting schools; teaching of sixth grade students; assist in maintaining all curriculum and instructional resources; and manage logistics for visiting teachers and students. Sometimes this involves stakeholders such as transportation.

Responsible for assisting the management of technology systems, including site network, website, and computers.

Assist in organizing and running special events, including Outdoor Lab School Open House and other site rentals.

Supervisory/Administrative:

Operate as teacher-in-charge when principal is off-site.

Share administrative, supervisory, and incident command duties with the site principal before and after regular business hours.

Must be able to work some overnight shifts with supervisory duties.

Must be willing to work some weekends to share duties that cover site rentals.

Manage, direct, and evaluate intern activities.

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: Current Colorado teaching license. Willingness to obtain, or in possession of Colorado administrative license preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Prefer 6th grade and/or Outdoor Lab School teaching experience.
