Traffic Dispatcher Job at Interstate Chemical Company
Interstate Chemical Company is seeking a full-time day shift Traffic Dispatcher to work in our Hermitage, PA location.
Job Summary:
The Dispatcher takes charge of the decision making for the fleet in providing the company’s transportation needs.
Primary responsibilities are:
- Coordinates with customer service, purchasing, warehousing, garage, satellites and drivers.
- Reproduces acquired information onto dispatch sheets which outlines and schedules our equipment and drivers accordingly.
- Schedules the safe transportation and handling of a wide variety of chemicals.
Major Duties:
- Involved in supporting, updating, providing advice, and developing strategies concerning the traffic departmental issues.
- Remains in compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the Hazardous Materials Regulations.
- Functions as spokesperson concerning distribution schedule of product and related issues.
- Maintains accurate and complete records for the traffic department.
- Compiles accurate and complete manifests (bill of lading) assemble and forwarded to drivers.
- Schedules the drivers and equipment efficiently with regards to the workload.
- Maintains a “Tanker Status” chart concerning the status/residue of all cargo tanks.
- Maintains a current “Call-In” sheet concerning the status of all drivers when they have updated their progress to dispatch via phone calls.
- Reviews “Driver’s Record of Duty Status” for all drivers and monitor them accordingly to their available hours of service.
- Maintains the “Warehouse Worksheet” to inform the department of tasks that need to be accomplished and incoming product.
- Assists in inventory of “Personal Protective Equipment” required for our department.
- Assists in maintaining “Vehicle Files” on the fleet’s commercial motor vehicles.
- Functions as a back-up resource during emergency situations, as support to other staff.
- Supports company on weekends by carrying a company phone for emergency calls.
- Attends and/or participate in “Driver/Safety Meetings.”
Preferred Qualifications:

* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to multi-task
* Computer Experience
* Knowledge of DOT Rules
* Hazmat Knowledge
* Excellent Attendance
* Current Driver's license
